A live video we put together of when we tagged along with Wet Nuns to their gig at Leeds Festival
drinking games never end well….
Tune into Sheffield Live tomorrow at 6pm
One half of Wet Nuns will be popping into the studio tomorrow to talk to me about the blues punk band’s music, their festival experiences and what the future holds.
The Yorkshire duo, Alexis and Rob, blew new music fans away when they bossed the BBC Introducing Stage at Reading and Leeds. One fan saying: “I wandered around the arena and was drawn to this awesome racket…Wet Nuns best new band I saw at Reading.”
And that racket is a mighty one. With heavy drums, riffy blues guitar and monstrous shouts, it’s no surprise Wet Nuns are gaining a huge following. Especially with their iconic t-shirts.
If you like beards, skulls, women, death, whiskey and THE NORTH, then you need to tune in.
Also I’ll share my Top 3 Tracks of the week with you.
AND reveal the Woman of the Week.
Tune in at 93.2fm (Sheffield) or online: www.sheffieldlive.org
I don’t usually bother much with the BBC Introducing stage at Reading, its full of generic, Major Label, NME landfill-indie bands that most times you’ll never hear of again. But I had time to kill waiting for The Cure so I wandered around the arena and was drawn to this awesome racket.
The easiest comparison would be The Black Keys, but more punk and British. Two guys playing shouty, riffy blues with great beards.

Wet Nuns on BBC Introducing Stage, Leeds Festival
The ending to their set is hilarious.
Reading and Leeds 2012 – Ten Bands You Have to See - Wet Nuns – BBC Introducing Stage – Reading (Friday)/Leeds (Saturday)
The Sheffield duo maybe be playing the festival’s smallest stage but this won’t stop them hammering out one of the nosiest sets of the whole weekend. Bringing their self proclaimed ‘death-blues’ to Reading and Leeds, Wet Nuns sure know how to crank out an unholy racket. Whiskey soaked vocals that make Lemmy sound angelic and dirty riffs to give Josh Homme goose bumps, these boys are as filthy as the festival bogs.
